Bhadrak: In a shocking incident, a man killed his wife in a fit of anger at Khaparapada village under Basudevpur police limits late on Sunday night.
One Prafulla Barik of the village, who works in a security company in Dhamara port, had an exchange of words with his wife Jayanti over some unknown reason last night. Irate over the argument, Barik attacked Jayanti with a pic-axe, causing her death on the spot. Prafulla then surrendered before the Basudevpur police.
Police have started an investigation into the matter by sending Jayanti’s body to the hospital for autopsy.
“Prafulla Barik of Khaparapada village killed his wife by attacking her with a pic-axe. From our preliminary investigation, we suspect the murder to be the fallout of a family fight. However, the exact reason behind the crime will be ascertained post the completion of investigation. The accused has been detained for interrogation,” said Basudevpur police station IIC Nabakrushna Naik while speaking about the incident.
