Balasore: In a shocking incident, a woman was raped by a man as her husband forced her to sleep with him after he lost in gambling at Malangbalikuti village under Baliapal police limits of district recently.
As per the allegation of the victim, her husband asked her to accompany him to a farmland where he had lost to one Abhiram Dalai while playing cards on May 22. Later, he forced her, as per his promise, to have physical relationship with Dalai and left the spot.
After the woman returned home, her husband started torturing her, following which she informed the matter to the villagers.
A village meeting was held where the villagers sought four days’ time to find out the truth. However, as no solution came out in the meeting, the victim filed a case against her husband and Dalai at Baliapal police station on May 27. But, the cops tried to resolve the issue by a mutual understanding without registering the case.
The entire incident came to light only when the desperate woman, with the help of her family members, met the Balasore Superintendent of Police (SP) yesterday seeking justice.
Meanwhile, the SP said to have assured her of justice.
The couple is married for 16 years now and have two children, one boy and one girl.
