Puri: In a tragic incident, a man reportedly drank poison in a motive to commit suicide after allegedly stabbing his mother in law to death on Wednesday. The incident took place near Kriya Yoga Ashram under Baseli Sahi Police limits in Puri of Odisha.
The deceased has been identified as Tilottama Kar.
As per reports, the man had married the younger daughter of the deceased Tilottama Kar. However, as the younger daughter was married, though her elder sister was yet to wed, Tilottama allegedly was not leaving her daughter to go to her in laws house.
Being angry with this, the man allegedly stabbed her mother with a knife. And then he drank poison. The injured was immediately taken to Puri Sadar hospital for treatment but as his condition deteriorated, he was then shifted to Cuttack.
As per preliminary investigation, the reason behind the incident is said to be family dispute.
The elder daughter of the deceased filed a written complaint in this matter at Baseli Police station.
Police have lodged a murder case in this matter while further investigation of the case is underway.
