Berhampur: While the excitement for the Men’s Hockey World Cup-2018 brewing in the air, several unprecedented enthusiastic hockey fans have expressed their love for the game through different means in Odisha. One of such ardent hockey lover has built the exact replica of the Kalinga Stadium, the venue of the international Hockey tournament.
Haragavind Maharana of Shriram Nagar in Berhampur has built a replica of the Kalinga Stadium using 15 different food ingredients especially –grams.
Maharana has built the 600-sitter stadium with the statue of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Hockey World Cup Trophy in it.
The national flags of all the 16 participating countries are also have been featured in the replica.
“It is a proud moment for our state (Odisha) and the entire nation that we are hosting such a huge international event at the Kalinga Stadium. In order to remember this, I have built this replica of the venue with national flags of all the participating countries,” said Maharana while speaking to Kalinga TV.
The replica of Kalinga Stadium has now become a crowd puller in the city with many visitors taking selfie with it and highly appreciating Haragavind’s love for the game.
“We did not get a chance to go to the Kalinga Stadium to watch the mega event. However, we are happy that brother Haragavind Maharana has made the replica of the stadium here, which gives us the feeling of seeing the venue. Haragavind’s unique creative means to express his love for the game is indeed praiseworthy,” said Pradip Behera, a local, adding that “Our CM’s effort to conduct the international hockey event is also commendable, which will definitely be included in the history of Odisha.”
The Hockey World Cup is scheduled to be held from 27 November till 16 December.
