Bhawanipatna: Kalahandi police today arrested a 35-year-old man for allegedly killing his wife and two sons and later dumping the body of his wife near the railway tracks on Monday.
Police today arrested the accused identified as Linga Majhi for the triple murder. While the body of his wife Bimala Majhi was found near the railway tracks, bodies of his sons – Rabindra Majhi (4) and Dushmant Majhi (6) were found in his house at Singajharan village under Bhawanipatna Sadar Police limits in the district.
The accused has alleged his wife of killing his two sons before committing suicide. “During further interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime. The motive behind the murder was a grudge against his wife,” said Kalahandi SP, Battula Gangadhar.
The SP said that the accused had eloped with another woman four months ago. “However he wanted to unite with his family but his wife didn’t agree. The couple used to have an argument over this for the past few months. Both of them had a heated argument on Sunday night and the accused hacked his wife to death with an axe. Later he also slit the throat of his sons,” added Gangadhar.
