Odisha: Man Already Lodged In Jail Booked For Theft

Baripada: In a bizarre incident a man in Mayurbhanj district was allegedly arrested by the police on charges of theft from a temple which took place while he was lodged in jail.

The man identified as Ramakant Nayak from Nuasahi village under Udala police limits has alleged the police of arresting him for the offence in which he was not involved.

Nayak was arrested on November 8, 2018 and remained in jail until November 29, 2018. However police again arrested him on February 24, 2019 on charges of theft from Sai Temple at Bhimatali Square of Udala which occurred on the night of November 11, 2018.

“How can I commit a theft while I was in the jail? Though I claimed innocence police arrested me on charges of theft. I demand justice for myself and also stringent action must be initiated against the cops responsible for this,” demanded Nayak.
