Odisha Mahila Congress President Sumitra Jena To Resign Today

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Mahila Congress President Sumitra Jena will resign from her post today. She has also informed that she will not be taking part in the upcoming elections.

Jena’s resignation comes after she was allegedly attacked by a mob at the Congress Bhawan on March 31.

Reports state that she was manhandled by some of the party workers while she was staging a ‘dharna’ in front of the Congress party office over alleged disproportion in allotment of tickets among the male and female candidates.

Following the incident, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) Chief Niranjan Patnaik had assured Jena of swift action against the culprits. However, Jena decided to quit the party and refrain herself from contesting the elections.
