Bhubaneswar: Hours after leaving Congress and the post of Mahila Congress President, senior leader Sumitra Jena joined the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) this evening.
Jena joined the state ruling party in the presence of BJD President and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at his residence here. Many activists of the women wing of the Grand Old Party also followed Sumitra’s footsteps.
Jena left the Congress party alleging irregularity in the distribution of party tickets for the upcoming election. She alleged that Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President Niranjan Patnaik selectively allotted tickets to candidates who greased his hands with cash.
