Bhubaneswar: The Jharpada Special Jail in Bhubaneswar has received ISO-90001 certificate for the efficient upkeep of the prison and its management.
It was awarded by the Minister of Home, Captain Dibya Shankar Mishra on Thursday when he visited the Jharpada jail and handed the Superintendent of the jail the ISO-9001 Certificate.
The ISO certificate has been issued for maintaining excellence in skill development, stress management for the prisoners, occupational abilities of prisoners, food processing units, and cleanliness and hygiene of jail.
The ISO certification is a visionary improvement technique for improving the standards of working in the jail. The jail, being a reforming institution, improvement in the above parameters, will help in the process of reforming the prisoners and the society in the long run.
In Odisha it has been decided that 10 jails will work to the hilt to improve the performance standards to obtain ISO certifications.
