Baripada: The Karanjia Police in the Mayurbhanj district of Odisha has reportedly arrested as many as six persons including the driver of a BJP MLA on charges of looting cash at a gunpoint last month.
The miscreants had reportedly looted around Rs 30,000 from a businessman at gunpoint near Murgapata Filling Station on April 14.
Police had started an investigation into the matter based on the complaint filed by the businessman. In the process of probing, they arrested the accused persons including the driver of BJP’s Jashipur MLA Ganesh Ram Singh.
Police forwarded them to the court after arresting them. The arrestees were said to be members of an inter-state robbery gang.
Meanwhile, the Jashipur MLA clarified that the concerned accused had worked with him as his driver only for 15 days.
