Cuttack: The Odisha Vigilance on Monday apprehended the Narsinghpur Inspector-In-Charge (IIC) while demanding and accepting a bribe. The IIC has been identified as Alekh Gardia.
Reportedly, the anti-corruption team laid a trap against Alekh based on the complaint that was lodged to arrest the accused persons involved in an SC/ST Act case. The case was lodged in Narsinghpur police station in September 2021. The entire bribe money has been recovered from Gardia and have been seized.
Following the raid, simultaneous house searches are underway at the official quarters of the Alekh Gardia in Narsinghpur police station campus and at his native village in Bhandarimal under Jujumara Police limits in Sambalpur.
A case has been filed with Cuttack Vigilance under section 7 PC (Amendment) Act 2018 in this connection. Further investigation is in progress against Gardia.
