Keonjhar: Police arrested the owner of Puja Sponge Pvt Ltd Kavit Kumar Agarwal today for allegedly not clearing the dues of a mining company to the tune of Rs 75 lakh.
Acting upon a complaint filed by the owner of SN Mohanty Mines, a team of Barbil raided Kavit’s residence in Rourkela last night and took him into custody.
As per the charges against the accused industrialist, his company has purchased iron ore worth Rs 1.14 Cr from SN Mohanty Mines in 2007-08 on credit basis. A dispute arose between the two companies after Kavit did not clear the dues for long time. It aggravated further after the owner of the SN Mohanty Mines lodged a case against Kavit at the Barbil Police Station in 2013. However, Kavit paid a sum of Rs 39 lakh to the complainant at that time to settle the matter at that time.
Since then Kavit was dilly dallying to pay the rest amount to the mines owner and was arrested last night by the Barbil Police following another complaint by the latter.
Police have forwarded Kavit to court following his arrest.
