Bhubaneswar: Odisha features in the top ten performing states as per the Human Development Index (HDI) list released by the State Bank of India (SBI). The state is also one of the top performing states on the basis of an increase in per capita income.
The Human Development Index (HDI) is a statistic composite index of life expectancy, education, and per capita income indicators, which is basically a common medium via which a state/country’s development could be mapped.
And as per the HDI report by SBI, Odisha is among the top ten performing states and the best-performing state of Eastern India.

- Arunachal Pradesh
- Rajasthan
- Kerala
- Andhra Pradesh

Additionally, Odisha holds the third position in terms of Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of Social expenditure at 15.1%.
Odisha has shown enormous growth from the period 1990 to 2017, as per the State Bank of India’s report on Human Development Index (HDI).
