Cuttack: Odisha Police today shifted IIC Baliapal, Prabhu Kalyan Acharya after he was chased and assaulted by a mob alleging police inaction in death of a minor at a dhaba in the area.
Odisha Police has also appointed Ranjit Kumar Sahu as the new IIC of Baliapal police station. DG R.P Sharma has directed State Human Rights Protection Cell (HRPC) to take up investigation of the case. A team of HRPC under the charge of Investigating Officer Sri Ranjit Naik, DSP has proceeded to Balasore to take charge of the investigation.
Tension had prevailed in the area after a minor boy identified as Bijay Dalai hailing from Bhograi was found hanging in the dhaba.
Police said that a case of murder has been registered on the complaint filed by the mother of the deceased.
Police personnel including IIC of Baliapal police station were chased and assaulted by a mob following the death of a minor boy. The IIC was later admitted at the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital. The video of mob chasing and thrashing cops has also gone viral on social media.
