Bhubaneswar: A day after police arrested 44 touts from various Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) across the state, state Transport Department has decided to introduce identity cards with different colour bands for employees working with the RTOs.

Transport Commissioner Sanjeeb Panda has written letters to the concerned RTOs about various steps to keep away middlemen and touts from the offices.

As per the letter, government employees working with the RTOs will be provided with identity cards having blue band while employees engaged by the service provider will be provided with identity cards having green bands. Similarly, identity cards with yellow bands will be provided to the employees of Smart Chip Ltd.

Panda has also asked the concerned RTOs to demolish temporary huts erected by the touts in and around the offices with the help of the local authority.

“There should be large signboards/wall paintings showing different services provided by your office with rate chart. CCTV may be installed inside offices and office premises,” read the letter.
