Odisha Governor Invites Naveen Patnaik To Form New Govt

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal on Sunday extended an invitation to Biju Janata Dal chief Naveen Patnaik to form the next government in the state.

This comes after the BJD chief met Ganeshi Lal at Raj Bhawan here and staked claim to form the next government in Odisha for the fifth consecutive time.

According to reports, Naveen Patnaik will take oath as chief minister for the fifth consecutive time on May 29.  In a first, the oath-taking ceremony will be held at IDCO Exhibition Ground in Bhubaneswar between 10 am and 12 noon on Wednesday.

Around 5000 guests, including the newly elected legislators and BJD party functionaries, will be a part of the ceremony.

Noteworthy, the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD emerged as the single largest party in Odisha by winning 112 seats out of the 146 assembly constituencies and 12 out of the 21 Lok Sabha seats in the recently concluded general elections.

Earlier, the state cabinet had on May 18 recommended dissolution of the 15th Odisha Legislative Assembly.

The 15th State Assembly, which was formed on June 12, 2014, will complete its term on 11th of next month.
