Odisha Govt To Start Advanced Cardiac Unit At Capital Hospital

Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has decided to start an Advanced Cardiac Unit at the state run Capital Hospital in the state capital.

The unit will facilitate heart operation, open heart surgery and complex angiography in the government run hospital.

Capital Hospital, the state government run hospital was set up in 1954 on 20 acres of land. The hospital caters to 70,000 indoor and 10 lakh outdoor patients every year with patients coming from Bhubaneswar and its neighbouring districts of Cuttack, Nayagarh, Puri and Khordha. Hospital authorities said that more than 100 patients visit the cardiology outdoor on daily basis for consultation.

Health & Family Welfare Minister Naba Kishore Das today visited the hospital with HOD of Cardiology department of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences in Bangalore, Prabhat Kumar Dash.

“The unit will start functioning soon with completion of construction of a operation theatre. A number of specialists will also join the unit to provide the best treatment. A high level meeting will be soon convened to expedite the whole process,” said the minister.
