Bhubaneswar: Odisha government today removed IPS officer B.K Sharma from the post of police DGP and appointed senior IPS officer Abhay as the new DGP.
The development came minutes after Odisha government formed a three member committee comprising of Chief Secretary, Development Commissioner and Home Secretary to probe delay in issuing fire safety certificates. The committee was formed after Government received several allegations in this regard against Sharma who is also the Fire Service DG. Sources said that Sharma has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty to Home Department.
1986 batch IPS officer Abhay is now working as Director National Police Academy.
The Odisha government has appointed Satyajit Mohanty as director intelligence and will remain in charge DGP till Abhay joins.
