Odisha govt reinstates suspended Sundergarh CDMO in-charge

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has reinstated Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) in-charge of Sundergarh district Dr Pankaj Patel after 12 days of suspension for alleged lapses in the implementation of its Mo Sarkar initiative.

Patel has been posted as Senior Consultant (Medicine), AD Level-ll, DHH Sambalpur  with immediate effect, a circular of Health and Family Welfare department said on Wednesday.

Patel was placed under suspension on October 13 following a high-level state government team, headed by ‘5T’ secretary V Kartikeyan Pandian, visited the district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Sundargarh on Sunday and sought the feedback of the patients.

However, the suspension of Patel was opposed by the Odisha Medical Service Association (OMSA).

Moreover, the district BJP unit along with members of Sundargarh Citizen Forum, observed a six-hour bandh on October 14 opposing the suspension of  Patel, saying the move was ‘politically motivated’.
