Bhubaneswar: The Special task force (STF) of Crime Branch today arrested a government employee for his involvement in illegal mining quarry on the land of Jagannath temple in Puri.
The STF today arrested Jayadev Sahoo who is currently posted as the junior clerk in the office of District Planning Board, Khurda.
Police said that Sahoo entered into a criminal conspiracy with criminals involved in illegal mining quarry. “He has been forwarded to the court today and further investigation in the case is continuing,” said a police official.
Police said that several gangs are operating stone crushers in and around Khordha area a without any authority or without paying any royalty to the government and thereby cause serious financial loss to the exchequer.
