Odisha govt approves proposal for introduction of Fire Service Employees’ Uniform Allowance

Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has approved the proposal for the introduction of Uniform Allowance for employees of the Fire Services Organization of the State in lieu of the existing centralized procurement of uniforms and other items.

According to a notification issued by the Home Department of Odisha government, Rs 5700 per annum will be given to the employees such as Assistant Fire Officer, Station Officer/ Fitter Station Officer, Assistant Station Officer/ Havildar Major, Fireman/ Fireman Driver/ Helper Fireman, Rs 5800 per annum to Leading Fireman/ Driver Havildar/ Havildar Mechanic and Rs 2000 per annum to follower orderly along with the following stipulations.

The payment of allowance during 2022-23 shall be allowed against the exhausted items based on the above rate proposed, added the notification.

The fires Service Directorate shall work out the shortfall items and amount payable there on to the eligible employees during 2022-23.

There is the budget proposal of Rs 2,004 Cr in B.E 2022-23, it may be considered to allow allowance during 2022-23 after enactment of full-fledged budget for implementation of the scheme.

Further those who have received the available items, payments against those items shall be made only after the life span of the items expires. Hence, accordingly, the allowances for those employees shall be worked out by the Fire Service Directorate.

The proposed allowance shall be sanctioned annually in the month of July.

The Officers/ employees, who have less than 6 months of services for superannuation on the 1st date of July, shall not be entitled for Uniform allowances for that year.

The Fire Service Directorate shall prescribe the detail dress code for all the officers/employees covered under the uniform allowance to maintain uniformity.

The officers/employees shall furnish undertaking at the time of sanction of allowances for utilization of same for the purpose for which it is sanctioned.
