Odisha Govt Announces Free Uniforms, Shoes For All School Students

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has decided to provide free shoes and uniforms to all students of government-run schools across the state.

Minister of School and Mass Education Samir Ranjan Dash said that the department has also decided to issue identity cards to the school students.

“Earlier students belonging to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category were provided with free shoes and school uniforms. The new initiative will be launched soon,’ said the minister.

Officials said that the decision to provide free uniforms and shoes to all students will mitigate the inferiority complex among those deprived of the facility. “This will also encourage parents of kids to enrol them in schools,” said an official.
