Odisha Govt announces Agri Input Subsidy of Rs.137.51 CrBhubaneswar: The state government announced Rs.137.51 crores towards Agriculture Input Subsidy for the pest affected crops in the state on Friday.

A press release issued by the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) today said that Rs.137.51 crores Agriculture Input Subsidy was announced for the identified pest affected 128318.945 hectares of cropped areas in the state.

The SRC had earlier said that the amount required for Agriculture Input Subsidy Rs.6800 per hectare for rain-fed areas while Rs.13500 per hectare for areas under assured irrigation.

The press release also informed that 24 out of 30 districts have reported crop damage due to pest attack except Balasore, Cuttack, Jagatsingpur, Kandhamal, Kendrapada and Malkanagiri districts, which have submitted nil report.

It is ascertained from the reported data that there is crop loss of 33% and more in 128318.945 hectares of cropped area in 8092 villages under 150 Blocks and 148 wards under 35 ULBs of 24 districts.

The SRC had said that the farmers who have sustained crop loss of 33% and above are eligible for Agriculture Input Subsidy as the pest attack has been classified as one of the twelve approved Natural Disasters under the SDRF/ NDRF guidelines.
