Odisha Government recommends OERC on electrocution compensation

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government has recommended a set of recommendations to the State Electricity Regulatory Commission (SERC) under various categories of electrocution deaths and injuries.

As per the recommendations, next of kin of the deceased in electrocution deaths in the State would be entitled to get an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh whereas families of patients with 60% disability and 40% to 60% will get a compensation of Rs 2 lakh and Rs 59,100 respectively.

In case of hospitalization of electrocution patients, for more than one weeks’ hospital stay the patient will get an assistance of Rs 12,700 whereas the amount has been fixed at Rs 4,300 for less stay than that.

Similarly, the government has also made recommendations for compensation against the loss of livestock due to electric shock.

As per the recommendations, Rs 30,000 for cow and buffaloes, Rs 25000 for draught animals including bullocks, camel and horse and Rs 50 per bird for poultry will be given.
