Odisha Government Employee Arrested On Bribery Charges

Jagatsinghpur: The Vigilance officials on Monday arrested a government employee for demanding and taking bribe. The accused has been identified Amarendra Acharya, who has been posted as Junior Assistant at the office of the Executive Engineer, Rural Water Supply and Sanitation (RWSS) in Jagatsinghpur.

Acharya was caught red-handed by the Vigilance officers of the Cuttack Division while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 2,000.

The accused was taking the bribe from complainant Bassnt Kumar Barik, a retired Fitter Mechanic, in order to process his final pension.

Sources said that the entire tainted bribe money was recovered from his pant and his right hand and pant pocket wash gave a positive chemical reaction.

The residential house of Acharya is being searched on a disproportionate assets angle following his arrest on bribery charges.
