Berhampur: The Collector cum District Magistrate of Ganjam district in Odisha in an office order on Monday declared the district as Child marriage free district.
It is to be noted that the Nirbhaya Kadhi Yojana ran in Ganjam district which aims at checking child marriages. Following this scheme 45 child marriage in 2019, 228 in 2020 and 201 child marriages in 2021 could be stopped.
After duly verified by the respective Block Development Officers, Tahsildars, Executive Officersm NAC and Child Marriage Prohibition Officers which have been recommended by the GP/ Ward/ Village level Task Force Committees, the Administration of Ganjam hereby declared Ganjam district as Child Marriage Free District (3309 No’s Child Marriage Free villages, 280 child marriage free ward under ULB and 503 Child Marriage Free Gram Panchayat, said the order.
