Odisha Forester sustains injury in Elephant attack

Keonjhar:  A forester sustained severe injury  after  a wild elephant attacked him near Singhpur under Bhuyan Juangpir forest range of  Keonjhar district in Odisha on Saturday morning.

Forester Pikeswar Mahant was rushed to Keonjhar District Headquarter Hospital. His condition was stated to be critical when last reports came in.

According to reports, two wild elephants were trapped in a well near Singhpur in the wee hours of today. On being informed, a forest team including Mahant reached the spot to rescue the jumbos.

One of the wild elephants managed to come out from the well on its own during the rescue operation.  At this time, the rescue team officials started running out of fear.

The wild elephant chased Mahant and trampled him as the officer slipped and fell down in the muddy ground. However, other officials managed to rescue him and immediately took to Keonjhar hospital for treatment.
