Odisha Fire personnel launch cease-work strike from today

Bhubaneswar: Fire personnel across Odisha launched a cease-work strike for an indefinite period of time starting from today demanding fulfilment of their 6-pont charter of demands.

The demands include equal salary and pension to Fire personnel as provisioned for Odisha police, eight-hour duty and fixation of job chart, filling up vacant posts, abolishment of contractual appointments and government registration of the association of the Fire personnel.

The fire personnel, however, decided to furnish their duties engaged in the Jagannath temple in Puri as well as security of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Sources said, over 5000 firemen, havildars, drivers of the fire department have joined the stir.
