Bhubaneswar: A female elephant, named Julie, has breathed last at the Nandankanan Zoological Park here in Odisha on Monday afternoon.
The elephant was ill and undergoing treatment at the zoo, official sources said.
The exact cause of death of the animal was unknown, sources added saying the autopsy test of the animal will be carried out tomorrow.
Julie was rescued from the Dhenkanal Division in the state and brought to the Nandankanan Zoo in 2009, Zoo official said.
