Odisha Farmers to meet PM Modi on Dec 24

Bhubaneswar: Members of Naba Nirman Krushak Sanghathan(NNKS) will stage a dharna in front of Raj Bhavan here in Odisha on January 8 to press their demands of price, prestige and pension. They will also submit a memorandum to PM Narendra Modi in this regard during his visit to the city on December 24.

Briefing media persons today, NNKS convener Akshaya Kumar informed that their primary demands are price, prestige and pension. They have demanded setting of reasonable Minimum Support Price(MSP), the prestige that a farmer deserves and pension for all farmers.

Very recently, NNKS had organised a pad yatra or a march from Raghunathpur area in Bhubaneswar to Raj Bhawan to submit a memorandum to Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal over several demands.

They have threatened to intensify their agitation from February 1 if the State government fails to meet their demands before the deadline of January 31.
