Bhubaneswar: The Excise Department of Odisha conducted a surprise raid at Hotel Sungreen’s Bar under Kharavela Nagar police limits in Bhubaneswar on Friday night.
Reportedly, the bar had remained open for the citizens to dine in till late at night along with dance and music.
The excise sleuths have also issued a show-cause notice to the hotel as it violated the rules of allowing the bar to remain open till late at night, added reports.
Till the last reports came in the General Manager of the Sungreen Hotel has confessed to the mistake and said that it was open late till the night for some hooligans.
It is pertinent to mention that the Department of Excise had given permission for the reopening of 14 bars in Bhubaneswar including Rain the Club, Swagat Bar, Live it Up Bar & Restaurant, Urmee Hotel Bar & Restaurant, Green Field, Deepali International, Ashoka Bar & Restaurant, Rewind, Alishan Bar & Restaurant, Barbie Bar & Restaurant, Mohanty Bar & Restaurant, Pentagon, Prince and Ekamra Bar.
All the dance bars have been asked to be equipped with CCTV and to keep a 2-month backup.
