Odisha: EVM glitches in 4 booths, CEO recommends for repolling

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Surendra Kumar on Thursday recommended repolling in four booths where polling took place during the second phase in the state following the malfunctions of EVM and VVPAT.

The four booths are Sundargarh (booth no-213), Bonai (booth no-129) and Daspalla (booth no-210 and 222).

Briefing the media here, the CEO also said that the cancellation of polling in four booths was not a result of technical glitches in the EVMs but due to lapses on part of the polling officers.

“The fact is that the faulty EVMs were not properly replaced by the polling officials,” Kumar said.

“Appropriate action will be taken against the concerned polling staff,” he added

Notably, voters of the four booths complained of EVM malfunctioning as the VVPAT recorded Lok Sabha votes instead of MLA votes and vice versa.
