Bhadrak: A group of locals reportedly staged a road blockade on Bhadrak- Chandabali road with the body of an employee of the electricity department who died following electrocution today in Odisha’s Bhadrak district.
The deceased employee has been identified as Rakesh Nayak of Barang area in Kendrapara district.
According to reports, Rakesh, who was working as a lineman at the Chandabali Electricity office, got an electric shock while he was on duty. Soon he was rushed to the Chandabali hospital in a critical condition. However, doctors declared him brought dead.
The family members of Rakesh informed the concerned higher officials and wanted to have a discussion over his death. However, as none of them allegedly responded, they, with the support of the locals, staged a road blockade by placing his body. They demanded adequate compensation and job for one of the family members of the deceased lineman.
Later, they withdrew the agitation after the S.D.O, who reached the spot, gave an immediate compensation of Rs 10,000 and assurance to look into their demands.
