Bhubaneswar: In a major jolt to the state unit of BJP, its tribal leader from Mayurbhanj district joined the state ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Wednesday ahead of the upcoming elections.
Ram Kumar Soren from Sarakana constituency who was the district president of BJP ST Morcha in Mayurbhanj joined the conch party along with hundreds of his supporters. They joined the BJD in the presence of BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at his residence.
Speaking about Soren’s joining, Patnaik said, “I am glad that BJP leader Ram Kumar Soren and workers of Mayurbhanj district joined the Biju Janata Dal today. I welcome them. Their joining will strengthen the Biju Janata Dal.”
