Baripada: Medical officer of Sukruli community health centre (CHC) in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district, Dr. Kunal Patra succumbed to COVID-19 while undergoing treatment at AIIMS, Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.
According to reports, Dr. Patra had tested positive for Covid-19 on July 25, following which he was admitted to Baripada COVID hospital here. He had recovered from the virus and was being discharged from the hospital after 10 days of treatment.
However, the doctor was admitted into a private hospital on September 26 with high sugar level. He was later shifted to AIIMS, Bhubaneswar as his condition was deteriorated.
He was again tested positive for Coronavirus on September 29 AIIMS, Bhubaneswar. He succumbed to the virus while undergoing treatment at the hospital this morning.
Dr Patra’s mortal remains will be cremated at his ancestral village, Budama under Rarugam block in the district, with full State honour, an official said.
So far, many front-line Covid warriors have succumbed to the virus in the state.
