Odisha: Cyclone Possible In May, Says IMD DG

Bhubaneswar: A cyclone is likely to affect Odisha said the India Meteorological Department (IMD) DG Mrutyunjay Mohapatra.

Mohapatra said that the low pressure system is likely to form over south Andaman sea and adjoining Bay of Bengal around May 6.

Under the influence of the formation, a Low-Pressure area is likely to form over the same region during the phase.

The MeT has further clarified that, the formation is likely to become more marked during subsequent 24 hours.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) is closely monitoring the possible formation of a low pressure system over south Andaman sea and adjoining Bay of Bengal in the month of May, and its possible intensification into a cyclone.

The IMD DG further added that, in case a low pressure is formed, IMD will issue necessary forecast regarding its path and intensity.
