Kendrapara: The Special Task Force (STF) of Crime Branch interrogated arrested gangster Syed Usman Ali alias Tito’s wife at her residence here on Friday.
A team of the STF consisting of one DSP and two lady inspectors grilled Tito’s wife Benazir Bibi for one and half an hour to unearth clues about her financial status like petrol pump, BIPL company, Audi car, movable and immovable properties.
Sanjaya Rout and former Kendrapara councillor Hifzul Rehman were also grilled at STF office Bhubaneswar regarding criminal network of Tito and his associates.
Meanwhile, Kendrapara court of the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) allowed the Crime Branch officials to take Tito yet on another three-day remand.
The SDJM court’s decision came after the officials of STF produced the gangster before it after the completion of his second phase four-day remand. The court permitted the investigating agency for a three-day remand against its plea for a four-day remand.
Earlier, the gangster was taken on a five-day remand soon after his arrest on June 30 following an encounter.
A case (8/2018) has been registered by the STF to ascertain the illegal acquires properties of Tito on organised crime, tender fixing, extortion and robbery. In this connection, the petrol pump and BIPL company have been sealed.
Another case has been registered against Tito and his associates for threatening a contractor who is undertaking contracting work in Aul under Patamundai irrigation division for Rs 7 crore to extract extortion to a tune of Rs 70 lakhs.
Besides, a case (10/2018) against Tito and his associates has been registered for forcibly occupying the landed property of 36 gunthas and have stacked sand, moron, chips and on protest by the land owners giving threat of murder on the gunpoint.
