Odisha Crime Branch arrests 5 suspects in Khordha BJP leader murder

Khordha: In a breakthrough in the investigation of BJP’s Khordha mandal president Manguli Jena murder case of April 14 this year, the Crime Branch (CB) of Odisha Police arrested five persons yesterday.

However, the Special Investigation Teams of the Crime Branch made the arrests based on another pending case in which Jena had been attacked by the accused on August 31, 2016 in Nirakarpur of Khordha district. The case had been lodged at Nirkakarpur Police Station on September 1, the same year.

The late BJP leader had sustained gun shots in both his legs in the attack and was rushed to hospital.

The held accused have been identified as, Dibyalochan Gajendra, Simanchal Badajena, Papin Kumar Dalasinghray, Chandrakanta Pradhan, and Ispat Moharana.

As many as 17 criminal cases against Gajendra, 11 against Simanchal, 4 against Papin, 2 against Chandrakanta and 3 against Ispat are pending at different police station limits, informed the police.

All the accused have been forwarded to Tangi JMFC Court post their arrest and a request for their remand has been filed by the CB to extract more information on Jena’s murder.
