Odisha: Congress to announce names of 50 candidates for 2019 general election in 15 days

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha unit of Congress party is gearing up for the upcoming 2019 general election as state in-charge Jitender Singh on Sunday informed that the party will come out with the name of 50 of its candidates within a period of 15 days.

“A meeting of the Pradesh Election Committee (PEC) will be held tomorrow where the names of at least 50 candidates will be finalized. Criteria for selection of the candidates will be decided during the meeting,” said Singh after chairing the first meeting of the newly-formed Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) at the party headquarters.

OPCC President Niranjan Patnaik and several senior leaders and district presidents of the grand old party are also attending the two-day meeting of the newly-formed PCC committee which began today.

”My only dream now is to bring back Congress in Odisha! Let’s come together and bring back the glory of our party in Odisha,” said Patnaik while addressing his teammates.

“Project Shakti” was also launched during the meeting with the office bearers of the party registering using their voter ID card number. Every Congress worker in Odisha will be enrolled with Shakti in coming days.
