Odisha Congress shortlists 44 candidates for 2019 elections; Here is the list

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha unit of Congress geared-up for the 2019 elections with shortlisting names of candidates for 44 Assembly constituencies in the state.

The names of the candidates were shortlisted by Pradesh Election Committee (PEC) today during a meeting which was held in the presence of Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President Niranjan Patnaik, All India Congress Committee (AICC) in-charge of Odisha Jitendra Singh and others at Congress Bhawan.

According to a reliable source, following are the names of 34 candidates out of 44 who have been shortlisted in the first phase:

Cuttack-Barabati- Mohammed Moquim,

Talsara- Prafulla Majhi,

Jeypore- Tara Prasad Bahinipati,

Sundargarh- Jogesh Kumar Singh,

Salepur- Prakash Chandra Behera,

Aul- Devendra Sharma,

Dabugam- Bhujabal Majhi,

Satyabadi- Prasad Harichandan,

Anandapur- Jayadev Jena,

Nimapara- Biswaranjan Mohanty

Bhubaneswar Central (Madhya) – Manas Choudhury,

Redhakhol- Assaf Ali Khan,

Paradip- Bapi Sarkhel,

Sukinda- Sarat Rout,

Kendrapara- Ganeswar Behera,

Bhandaripokhari- Ananta Sethi Kailash,

Laxmipur- Chandra Kulesika,

Kotpad- Chandrasekhar Majhi,

Niranjan Patnaik said, “The Pradesh Election Committee (PEC) finalised 44 candidates for the assembly elections. They have been selected on the basis of winnability factor.”

“The list of selected candidates will be scrutinised by the screening committee of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) before formal announcement,” he added.
