Odisha Congress begins its candidate selection procedure

Bhubaneswar: State Congress has begun its selection of probable candidates on Wednesday. AICC Screening Committee Chairman V.D. Satishan and AICC Screening Committee member Naushad Solanki are in Odisha now for the procedure.

The candidates will be selected based on their contribution to the party winning in upcoming elections and their role in party management; informed AICC Screening Committee member.  The Committee members shall stay in Odisha for three days and have discussions with Congress party members of all level.

All candidates wishing for a nomination for either Rajya Sabha or Lok Sabha elections can submit their candidacy directly to the Committee. On the other hand, candidates who had lost in last elections are hopeful of getting a ticket this year. The Congress has planned to release its list of probable candidates by the end of this month.

AICC President Rahul Gandhi is set to visit Odisha yet again on February 27. This time he will be visiting Bargarh. OPCC President Niranjan Patnaik made a visit to Bargarh personally to oversee the arrangements for Rahul’s visit. Niranjan inspected Bargarh block’s Sarsara grounds and Jamurda grounds and Circus grounds in Bargarh town.

While Rahul had visited Khurda, Bhawanipatna and Rourkela on his previous three visits, this time Congress’ focus will be on Bargarh.
