Odisha CM,other dignitaries pays tribute to deceased jawan Rana Pratap Das

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik  paid his last respects to the deceased IAF jawan Rana Pratap Das on Saturday afternoon who died in a chopper crash in Coonor, Tamil Nadu.

The mortal remains of Junior Warrant Officer Rana Pratap Das, who lost his life in the tragic chopper crash in Tamil Nadu on December 8, reached Bhubaneswar today.

CM Patnaik offered flowers on body of Rana Pratap Das to bid farewell after personnel of 120 Battalion paid guard of honour to the departed soul at Biju Patnaik International Airport here. He will be taken to his native village Krushnachandrapur in Angul where his last rites will be performed.

Many political leaders and other dignitaries including Niranjan Pujari, Ashok Panda, Odisha DGP Abhay and Police Commissioner Saumendra Priyadarshi paid their last respects to officer Rana Pratap Das.

Rana Pratap had joined the IAF 12 years ago and was currently working as a Junior Warrant Officer (JWO). He was part of the technical crew of the chopper.

Meanwhile, his wife Sibangi and son Gaya have reportedly reached Talcher and preparation at Krushnachandrapur village for the Jawan’s last rites.

It is to be noted here that General Bipin Rawat, was among 13 people killed on Wednesday when the military helicopter they were travelling in crashed at Coonor, Tamil Nadu.
