Odisha CM urges PM Modi to declare ‘Hockey’ as National Game of India

Bhubaneswar: In a surprising note, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to declare ‘Hockey’ as National Game of India and place it in the official notification.
The Chief Minister today wrote a letter to Modi in this regard.

In his Twitter handle, Naveen Patnaik said that he was surprised that Hockey has never been officially notified as National Game of the country.

“It’s surprising that Hockey is not officially declared as National Game, though most of us believe it is already”, Director, Ministry of Sports, Vineel Krishna wrote in his Twitter handle.
The Odisha Government will host the 2018 Men’s Hockey World Cup at the Kalinga Stadium here from 28 November to 16 December 2018.
