Cuttack: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will dedicate the Utkal Gourab Madhusudan Setu on Mahanadi river tomorrow on the occasion of Utkal Divas (Odisha Divas).

The 3.13 km bridge which connects Cuttack and Nuapatna has been constructed at a cost of Rs 157 crore.

The bridge, which has been constructed entirely from state’s own resources, will shorten the Cuttack-Dhenkanal route by over 16 km.

The Odisha government on Thursday had named the new bridge as Utkal Gourab Madhusudan Setu in a tribute to Madhusudan Das, a freedom fighter, poet and the first graduate and lawyer of Odisha.

Connecting major pilgrim site of Dhabaleswar temple and the heritage village of Nuapatna, known worldwide for its handloom and Khandua sarees, the bridge is expected to boost tourism and socio-economic growth in the area.
