Odisha CM pays tributes to Pabitra Mohan Pradhan

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik paid his tribute to eminent freedom fighter, leader of Prajamandal agitation and former Deputy Chief Minister Pabitra Mohan Pradhan on his 110th birth anniversary on Thursday.

Taking to his twitter handle, Patnaik recalled his love for the nation and said that he will remain immortal for his selfless work for the development of the people.

Pabitra Mohan Pradhan was born at Poipal in Dhenkanal on February 8, 1910 and took up teachership after education.

He was arrested and imprisoned in 1939 by the Ruler of Talcher against whom he was fighting. However, he scaled over the jail walls in 1942 to joined the `Quit India` Movement by Mahatma Gandhi. Later, the Ruler had declared a prize money of Rs 10000 to arrest him dead or alive.

But, Pabitra Mohan Pradhan formed a Parallel Government with the help of the people. Later being apprehended, left Odisha to meet Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. He joined the suicide squad of Netaji and rendered valuable service at the risk of his life.

After Independence, he became the Executive Councillor for the administration of Odisha State in 1948-49 and 1950-52. He passed away on June 23, 1988.

    Tribute to Pabitra mohan pradhan a great leader of prajamandal movement i princly states of odisha . Later he joined as a suicide squad in Netaji suvas and worked as a news reporter for INA. Also worked with lok nayak jaya prakash narayan before independece while he was under grounded in freedom struggle. After independence pabitra babu served as MLA, MP and deputy chief minister of odisha for many years. He was a poet,social reformer more over a gandhian leader served for the poor people throughout his life.
