Bhubaneswar: In the highest appointment of doctors at one go in the State, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik approved the appointment of 938 MBBS doctors on Thursday.
With Patnaik’s approval, the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) will now appoint the medicos as Assistant Surgeons at various hospitals across the state.
With the fresh appointments, the number of doctors in the state has gone up to 5707 against the sanctioned strength of 6719. Besides, it will reduce the percentage of vacancies in the State from 29% to 15%.
