Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik gives away house repair assistance to the beneficiaries

Bhubaneswar: As per his earlier announcement, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik gave away house repair assistance of Rs 3,000 to each beneficiary. Patnaik gave the financial assistant to the Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana (BPGY) and Centre’s Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) beneficiaries to repair their houses.

It is to be noted here that in a historic decision, Naveen Patnaik on December 21, 2021 had announced to give house repair assistance. Likewise, the poor and eligible people who were deprived of getting houses under the BPGY and PMAY-G schemes will be given Rs 5000 each to repair their houses.

The State government would spend around Rs 1444 crore in this regard and the money will be disbursed to the bank accounts of the 32 lakh beneficiaries.

“We had taken a decision in 2014 for converting all Kutcha houses into Pucca ones. Within these years, a total 31 lakh pucca houses have been built and the efforts will continue till there is no Kutcha house left in the State,” said Naveen.

A press release from the CMO stated that during the COVID pandemic, 12.25 lakh families have not yet got their homes, though they were enlisted as eligible under the PMAY-G. The State Government will provide financial assistance of Rs 5,000 from BPGY for repair of the houses where these families are staying, said Naveen.
