Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik extends wishes on 73rd Republic Day

Bhubaneswar: A spectacular parade marked the 73rd Republic Day celebration in the Capital City Bhubaneswar on Wednesday amid Covid-19 protocols.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik extended his wishes to the people of Odisha as the country marked the 73rd Republic Day. He took to his official Twitter handle and wrote “Warm wishes on 73rd Republic Day. On this day, let’s remember the freedom fighters who made selfless sacrifices for this Great Nation and solemnly reaffirm pledge to uphold the ideals enshrined in our Constitution.”

The 73rd Republic Day celebrations took place in Bhubaneswar. The State-level parade was held at the Mahatma Gandhi Marg in Bhubaneswar at 8.30 am without the presence of general public.

Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal hoisted the national flag and took the salute in the presence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Only Police contingents participated in the ceremony today. RT-PCR test was made mandatory for those participating in the parade.

Republic Day is celebrated every year on January 26 to commemorate the adoption of the Indian Constitution, which came into effect on this day in 1950. The Constitution is the supreme law of the land and citizens are expected to abide by it.
