Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik dedicates 10 smart schools under 5-T initiative

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday dedicated as many as 10 schools in Hinjili and Seragarh blocks of Ganjam district which have got a facelift.

According to the statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), a total of 50 schools in Hinjili and Seragarh have been transformed into smart schools.

However, the Chief Minister dedicated only 10 of them in the first phase through video conferencing today. He is slated to dedicate the other 40 trasformed schools by August 30.

Special programms were organised in all the 10 model schools.

While speaking on the occasion, he said that the transformation of schools that began from Hinjili has showed the way to the State.

Each school was granted a fund of Rs 15 lakhs from Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Rs 30 lakhs from Mo School Abhiyan. In addition, the panchayat and block funds have also been invested.

Apart from smart-classrooms, the smart schools have e-libraries, e-laboratories, modern washrooms, and drinking water filters, etc. The students will be able to study through projectors and white boards instead of the blackboards.

Patnaik informed that all the MLAs of the State will visit the smart schools in five phases and a total of 1,070 government schools will be transformed into such smart schools in the first phase.

As many as 20 MLAs and Ministers, the Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra, 5-T Secretary V. K. Pandian, other senior officials, students and ex-students attended today’s programme.
