Odisha CM Naveen announces additional assistance of Rs 5 cr for Kerala

Bhubaneswar: Expressing solidarity with all flood-affected people of Kerala, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced an additional financial assistance of Rs 5 crores.

Patnaik also announced that 500 metric tonnes of polythene sheets worth Rs 8 crore would be sent to Kerala.

He also expressed deep condolences for the loss of lives in the devastating flood, where the death toll has reportedly risen to 400.

Expressing his deep concern for the flood-ravaged state, he had earlier on August 16 announced Rs 5 crore assistance for Kerala.

Besides, he had sent a special team comprising 225 fire personnel, 15 supervisors and other officers for the rescue operations.

Meanwhile, Internationally acclaimed sand artist from Odisha Sudarsan Pattnaik created an appealing sand sculpture at Puri sea beach and urged the people to stand with Kerala.

“Join hands to help Kerala flood victims. Please offer your arms at this critical hour,” he urged on his twitter handle.
